Turkey's first over-the-horizon anti-submarine sonar: DUFAS

According to ASELSAN's statement, DÜFAS, which was developed in line with the needs of the Naval Forces Command under the leadership of the Presidency of Defense Industries (SSB), enables the detection of underwater threats such as submarines and torpedoes from long distances.

DÜFAS strengthens the Turkish Navy's power in the Blue Homeland with its depth-variable active and passive sonar capabilities and superior technology.

DÜFAS, the first and only towed active sonar system designed and manufactured domestically, transmits acoustic signals via active sonar components.

DÜFAS, which creates a tactical underwater image by collecting the reflections of the broadcast signal from the targets using passive sonar, enables the detection and tracking of underwater threats from long distances and with high accuracy.

Enemy submarines no longer pose a threat to the Turkish Navy

DÜFAS draws attention for its sonar performance modeling capability and stands out for its architecture suitable for bistatic/multistatic operation. With the technical characteristics of DÜFAS, enemy submarines no longer pose a threat to the Turkish Navy.

In addition to detecting threats such as submarines, the system developed by ASELSAN also detects threats such as torpedoes by listening for ambient noise in passive sonar mode. DÜFAS also eliminates the risk by activating countermeasures when it detects a torpedo threat.

President of the Defense Industry Presidency Prof. Dr. Haluk Görgün said in his contribution on this topic: “DÜFAS, which can effectively detect submarines and torpedoes with its directional scanning function, will strengthen the power of our glorious Navy,” he said.
