Türkiye Informatics Council will take place again after 20 years

According to the Presidential Digital Transformation Office, important steps are being taken to position the country more effectively in the global economy, where digital transformation and data-driven value chains have become the “new normal”, and to turn the “Turkey Century” into the “Turkey Century”. “Century of the digital”.

With a view to the success of efforts in this direction, it is important to strengthen common sense among all stakeholders, especially public institutions and organizations, the private sector, academia and non-governmental organizations (NGOs), to raise awareness and capacity at the national level to develop .

The collective wisdom and outcomes of the Councils held in 2002 and 2004 with the vision “Towards the Information Society” guided the country's work in this area.

Due to the need to treat the rapidly developing new generation digital technologies with a holistic view, the organization of the 3rd IT Council began after 20 years.

Preparations for the council, scheduled to take place later this year, will be carried out by working groups formed under six headings: TOBB Turkey Software Assembly, Informatics Industrialists Association, Turkish Informatics Foundation, Software Industrialists Association and Information Security Association. led by the Turkish Informatics Association (TBD) on behalf of NGOs. .

The coordination and general organization of the Council between public administrations is carried out by the Presidential Digital Transformation Office.

The Council will discuss the topics “Digital Skills and Agile Workforce Adaptation”, “Increasing Participation in the Global Data Economy”, “New Generation Digital Technologies for Sustainable Development”, “Digital Sovereignty and Resilience”, “Informatics Law and Ethics and Digital Life” The vision “Turkey Produces Technology in the Age of Digitalization” presents macro-level goals and policy recommendations for 2030 and beyond.

A two-stage workshop was planned for the working groups in the council. While more than 200 stakeholders took part in three preparatory workshops in Ankara, the other three workshops will take place in Istanbul.

The second workshops, which will take place in May under the coordination of NGOs in the field of informatics and the subsequent activities, aim to reach a broader stakeholder segment and discuss informatics-oriented strategies and solutions for 2030 and beyond.

The publication of the Council report puts digital transformation and new generation digital technologies, affecting all sectors, on the agenda and presents a roadmap that reflects the expectations of all parties.
