Industry and Technology Minister Mehmet Fatih Kacır made a written statement about the students who won medals in the international Olympic Games.
Stating that students continue to return from the international Science Olympiads with medals, Kacır said, “This is the pride of our Turkey. Our students won 1 gold, 3 silver and 2 bronze medals at the 67th International Mathematical Olympiad in Shanghai, China, which was attended by 666 students from 117 countries. Our students won 2 gold and 2 silver medals at the 37th International Biology Olympiad in Vilnius, where 302 students from 78 countries took part. “Our students won 4 silver medals at the 58th International Chemistry Olympiad in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, in which more than 360 students from 93 countries took part. Our students won five silver medals at the 56th International Physics Olympiad in Bucaramanga, Colombia, in which 381 students from 87 countries took part. I congratulate all our students who made us proud by successfully representing our Türkiye.”
6 out of 6 successes in China
According to the statement, all six students who represented Türkiye at the competition in China won medals. Under the relevant program, Umut Kağan Yazgan, one of the students trained by TÜBİTAK BİDEB, won the gold medal, while Ege Akgün, Mustafa Dortluoğlu and Tuğra Özbey Eratlı won the silver medal, and Alperen İnan and Selim Doğan won the bronze medal.
In Lithuania, Ahmet Alp Alaftargil and Ahsen Sena Girgin won the gold medal and made their mark at the top, while Çağan Gürel and Bilal Bostan won the silver medal.
Students Arda Yazıcıoğlu, Bahri Eren Sarıkaya, Kaan Doğan and Mustafa Efe Cesur, who were trained in Uzbekistan with the support of TÜBİTAK, won the silver medal with their successful performance.
In Colombia, Eren Akarsu, Mert Andaç Karan, Rüzgar Kuşaklı, Şenol Tarhan and Yiğit Koca once again demonstrated Türkiye's strength in basic sciences at the international level by winning the silver medal.
