Türkiye's exports to Syria increased by 26.4 percent

According to the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TİM), 3 million 182 thousand 61 tons of products were sent to Syria in the first half of the year. The export volume increased by 36.6 percent compared to the same period last year.

The largest export to Syria was milling products with 103 million 879 thousand dollars. This sector was followed by cement with 102 million 256 thousand dollars and power and energy products with 80 million 107 thousand dollars. What should be highlighted is the increase in cement exports by 116.8 percent.

The share of the Southeast Anatolia region in exports to Syria was calculated at 461 million 823 thousand dollars. The region's exports increased by 34.6 percent in volume and 11.4 percent in value compared to the same period last year.

The increase in exports to Syria continues

TİM Board Member and TİM Syria Desk Head Celal Kadooğlu said that 2025 was completed with an increase in exports of about 70 percent in the Syrian market and that the upward trend will continue in 2026.

Stating that integrating the banking system into the international financial system, improving security conditions and preparing for the full operation of the Islahiye and Nusaybin border gates will make a positive contribution to trade, Kadooğlu said, “The mutual positive steps taken by the management of both countries strengthen our goals for our common future.” he said.

Stating that they believe that the tariffs updated on more than a thousand products with the new decree that came into force in Syria in June will be reassessed in line with the two countries' common trade vision, Kadooğlu stated that the high tariffs on some product groups significantly increased export costs.

Explaining that tariffs of $1,000 per tonne cost about $25,000 including additional costs for a 20-ton truck, Kadooğlu pointed out that reducing this burden to an appropriate level through mutual dialogue will both increase Türkiye's export potential and provide access to the products needed in Syria on more favorable terms.

He added that it is important to readjust customs tariffs according to common interests and re-enact the free trade agreement to make trade between the two countries more predictable and sustainable.
