Nacar made a statement to the press on the Ship Traffic Services System established in the Famagusta District of the TRNC within the framework of the Eastern Mediterranean Ship Traffic Services Project, saying that the system has an integrated structure in which foreign ship movements, people smuggling and illegal operations can be detected thanks to the local software integrated with radars, electronic systems, communication infrastructure and towers installed on site.
General Manager Nacar explained that HAVELSAN's digital ship monitoring system has a higher localization rate than systems manufactured in the past: “The system can be integrated into our existing systems and takes situational awareness to a higher level with its analysis capability supported by artificial intelligence.” he said.
Recalling that in 2023, HAVELSAN replaced foreign software with local ones and reinforced sensors with local products in the Turkish road vessel transport services, Nacar stressed that the system installed in the TRNC went a step further than its predecessors with a higher localization rate.
Emphasizing that the vessel traffic service system established in the TRNC under the Eastern Mediterranean Vessel Traffic Services Project will be the eyes of both Turkey and the TRNC in the “Blue Homeland,” Nacar said:
“Thanks to this system, what is happening here can be recognized and viewed much more easily. This will allow us to operate more freely. We will use our own systems to provide situational awareness at sea without relying on others. TRNC will benefit maximally from this system in terms of smuggling, illegal activities and the safety of shipping traffic.”
Pointing out that an important digital maritime surveillance system has been established in the TRNC, Nacar said: “The artificial intelligence-supported domestic digital maritime surveillance system installed in the TRNC will significantly increase maritime security in the 'Blue Homeland' of the Eastern Mediterranean.” he said.
Nacar explained that HAVELSAN has established similar coast guard, radar and surveillance systems in Turkey and friendly countries, emphasizing that they have also carried out projects in the Black Sea, Southeast Asia and Africa.
Nacar pointed out that HAVELSAN is turning to other areas with products such as aviation simulations, command control systems and battle management software, saying: “HAVELSAN will become even stronger in 2026 with new projects in big data, artificial intelligence and cloud computing.” he said.
