Announcement of sales figures for apartments and jobs

The Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) has released housing and job sales statistics for May.

Accordingly, the number of first-hand houses sold throughout Türkiye fell by 27.9 percent to 30,000 196 in May compared to the same month last year. The number of second-hand houses fell by 32.7 percent in the same period, reaching 63,000 137. Thus, the total number of houses sold last month was 93,000 333, a decrease of 31.2 percent compared to the same month in year 2025 corresponds.

The share of first home sales in total house sales was 32.4 percent, while the share of used house sales was 67.6 percent.

Mortgage sales fell

The number of mortgage house sales across Türkiye reached 19,754 in May, down 2.8 percent compared to the same month last year.

Other real estate sales fell 36.2 percent year-on-year in May, reaching 73,579. The share of mortgage sales in total real estate sales was 21.2 percent and the share of other sales was 78.8 percent.

In the series adjusted for calendar effects, sales of first-hand homes fell 3.6 percent and sales of used homes fell 11.3 percent in May compared to the same month in 2025.

In the series adjusted for seasonal and calendar effects, sales of first homes fell by 3.4 percent and sales of used homes fell by 0.5 percent compared to the previous month.

1,387 houses were sold to foreigners

Real estate sales to foreigners fell by 27 percent in May compared to the same month last year and reached 1,387. In May, the share of apartment sales to foreigners in total apartment sales was 1.5 percent.

Last month, the most house sales by nationality in the country were made to Russian citizens with 268, Iranian citizens with 125 and Ukrainian citizens with 88.

Period January to May

In the period January to May this year, the number of sales of first-hand houses fell by 3.4 percent compared to the same period last year, reaching 178,000 81. The number of sales of second-hand houses fell by 7.9 percent in the same period, reaching 391,000 456. The total number of houses sold in this period thus amounted to 569,000 537, a decrease of 6.6 percent compared to the same Period corresponds to 2025.

Mortgage home sales rose 25.8 percent to 116,801 in the January-May period. In the five-month period this year, other residential sales fell 12.4 percent to 452,736.

During the same period, real estate sales to foreigners fell by 15.1 percent compared to the January-May period last year, reaching 7,000 68.
