The best-selling product in the second-hand e-commerce market was shirts

According to the “E-Commerce Outlook Report in Türkiye,” the country's e-commerce spending reached 4.6 trillion lira last year.

The increase in second-hand product sales through e-commerce applications also attracted attention. Accordingly, the volume of “sustainable e-commerce”, which also includes the sale of refurbished and used products, increased from 9.8 billion lira in 2024 to 21.8 billion lira last year. The number of transactions for these products increased from 17.5 million to 23.6 million during this period.

When looking at the product groups in this area, shirts and tops were in first place in terms of quantity. Accordingly, 751 thousand 294 second-hand shirts and tops were sold via e-commerce last year.

This product group was followed by “dresses and evening dresses” with 681,000 697 and trousers with 564,000 906. This was followed by trousers, jackets and coats with 515,000 771, while the number of second-hand shoes sold via e-commerce was recorded at 443,000 242.

In the volume ranking, mobile phones come first

When looking at the volume of product groups sold in second-hand e-commerce, mobile phones ranked first.

Excluding refurbished products, a total of 594.17 million lira worth of used phones were sold online last year. This value corresponded to around 6 percent of the total volume of mobile phone sales.

In terms of sales, mobile phones were followed by the jackets and coats product group. The total volume of these products was reported at 524.22 million lira.

These products were followed by dresses and evening dresses with 460.68 million lira, bags with 424.71 million lira and shoes with 390.34 million lira.

Mobile phones also stood out in the refurbished market

It was found that the refurbished products market was largely dominated by mobile phone sales.

In this context, cell phones “model 2021 and 128 gigabytes” took first place with 16.3 percent. This product was followed by cell phones “model 2019 and 64 gigabytes” with 13.2 percent and cell phones “model 2019 and 128 gigabytes” with 10.5 percent.

The share of these three models in the total volume was determined to be 40 percent.

In terms of volume, the cell phones “Model 2019 and 64 Gigabyte” had the highest number of transactions at 14.9 percent.
