Ahmet Hamdi Atalay, General Manager of TÜRKSAT AŞ, informed about the platform developed by TÜRKSAT.
Explaining that they exhibited the robotic platform within the framework of the SAHA 2026 International Defense, Aerospace Industry Fair, which continues to be held at the Istanbul Expo Center, of which Anadolu Agency is the global communications partner, Atalay said that the system combines TÜRKSAT's satellite and 5G technologies with robotic mechanisms.
Atalay explained that as TÜRKSAT, they have recently been working on adding new elements to traditional services such as satellite broadcasting and Internet connection.
Atalay emphasized that they are working on various technologies that aim to provide uninterrupted and continuous communication in various areas of need through the use of fundamental technologies, explaining that one of them is the robotic platform.
Atalay said: “Our robotic platform is a technology that establishes connections mainly via satellite and transmits them to devices with 5G. If an earthquake occurs in one place or the entire communication network collapses, we send our platform to places inaccessible to humans, connect via satellite and extend the 5G network to a region within a kilometer radius. This means that mobile phones and terminals using similar technologies within this coverage area can continue to communicate via satellite even if other networks fail.” he said.
The platform is mature and its testing has been completed
Atalay explained that the platform is a mobile system that can be used for certain periods of time, especially in disaster areas and places where communication is not possible.
Atalay emphasized that this also applies to the defense sector and continued:
“In addition, our system is a platform that allows our military units to communicate even in places where they are traveling and where communication is not possible. Its most important feature is that it is connected to the network via satellite and can communicate without other obstacles. So it is a platform that can be used wherever communication with other networks is not possible.”
Atalay stated that the product in question was mature and its testing was largely completed, and that it was in discussions with the Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD) and the Turkish Armed Forces about the platform.
Atalay pointed out that TURKSAT is part of aviation and defense: “There is no war without combat. We are on the communications side.” he said.
About the robot platform
The developed mobile platform can carry 5G-enabled data communications into the field by providing connectivity via satellite in areas where terrestrial communications infrastructure is missing, damaged or inadequate. The system is designed for disaster and emergency management, border security, critical facility protection, reconnaissance and surveillance activities, and mobile communications requirements.
Damage to communications infrastructure, particularly during earthquakes, floods, wildfires and similar disaster scenarios, can complicate on-site coordination. The satellite-based robotic communication solution developed by TÜRKSAT can quickly reach the region in such situations and create a secure and uninterrupted communication infrastructure.
The platform can provide 5G communication support, real-time image transmission, voice and data communication, mobile hotspot service and telemetry in critical fields via satellite connection.
The four-legged robotic platform, which can be used in difficult terrain conditions, offers operational advantages in areas where human access is risky. Thanks to its mobile structure, the system provides immediate liaison support for security forces, search and rescue teams and field personnel.
The solution, which uses satellite and 5G technologies in an integrated manner, offers solutions to critical communication needs, especially in rural areas, thanks to its ability to work independently of the terrestrial network.
