Eastern Black Sea Exporters Association (DKİB) Chairman of the Board Selçuk İskender stated in his written statement that in the first four months of the year, 501 million 108 thousand dollars in exports came from Trabzon, 82 million 942 thousand dollars from Rize, 61 million 928 thousand dollars from Gümüşhane and 32 million 218 thousand dollars from Artvin were made.
İskender stated that exports increased by 7 percent in Trabzon, 26 percent in Rize, 126 percent in Gümüşhane and 32 percent in Artvin compared to the same period last year.
The highest export is in the hazelnut sector with 352 million 720 thousand dollars
Stating that hazelnuts are one of the sectors with the highest exports at 352 million 720 thousand dollars, İskender emphasized that it was followed by mining and metals at 122 million 280 thousand dollars, aquaculture and livestock products at 65 million 759 thousand dollars, and fresh fruits and vegetables at 56 million 392 thousand dollars.
İskender mentioned that sales were made to 107 countries from the Eastern Black Sea region during the said period and pointed out that the top five exporting countries were Italy, Russia, Georgia, Germany and France.
Explaining that unlike the same period last year, exports were made to 13 different countries, İskender said: “While our exports to Russia increased by 7 percent, our exports to Georgia increased by 13 percent, our exports to Germany increased by 74 percent and our exports to France increased by 66 percent, there was a decrease of 1 percent in our exports to Italy.” he said.
