The domestic “silver paste” developed by the advanced materials technology company Nanografi is among the basic materials that enable the creation of conductive circuits for the production of solar panels. The aim is to shorten delivery times and reduce costs through domestic production of the previously completely imported product.
Salih Kayılı, Applications Manager of Nanography Innovation, explained that “silver paste” is actually a conductive paint and that this material allows the fabrication of micro-scale circuits. Kayılı stated that the product is used not only in solar panels but also in many fields from automotive to home appliances.
“Logistics costs will fall thanks to domestic production”
Stating that the demand for “silver cake” in Turkey has so far been met exclusively from abroad, Kayılı explained that this situation could lead to serious delays in production processes. Kayılı said: “The finished product comes from abroad in its packaging and the delivery time is very long. Currently, if you order a product, you can receive it after 6 months.” he said.
Stating that thanks to domestic production, logistics costs will decrease and manufacturers' inventory burden will be reduced, Kayılı emphasized that fast delivery will be a significant advantage, especially for growing investments in solar panels.
Explaining that the production of “silver paste” is carried out with a fully integrated plant infrastructure, Kayılı said, “We carry out end-to-end production. We have set up an integrated plant for this. Our starting point in the production of silver paste is silver ore. The ore taken out in granular form is converted into micropowder through various processes. Then, from this microsilver, the silver paste itself is produced. In other words, we convert it from raw material to the final product.” he said.
Pointing out that this production approach is an important step in terms of technology acquisition in Turkey, Kayılı pointed out that it is of strategic value to carry out all processes from raw materials to final products with domestic means.
The product has been tested on site and delivery has begun
Kayılı stated that the developed “silver cake” was tested not only in the laboratory environment but also directly in the facilities of the leading manufacturers in the industry, thus the product was developed ready for practical use. Kayılı said: “Since the developments were carried out directly in the production environment, the product was compatible with integrated on-site production immediately after its release.” he said.
Kayılı stated that the first production was completed in February, deliveries to solar panel manufacturers began, and the product entered the commercialization process.
Stating that the application areas of silver cake are not only limited to solar panels, Kayılı said:
“Although the main application appears to be solar panels, silver paste is used in areas such as automotive, home appliances, electronics and wearable sensor technologies.
Competitive goal on the global market
Emphasizing that China is a strong player in the global production of “silver cake”, Salih Kayılı stated that global production capacities are sometimes insufficient due to increasing demand.
Kayılı said: “If you place an order today, the delivery time can be up to 6 months. Establishing and putting this production into operation in Türkiye and establishing an international sales network from here is an important source of pride for us.” he said
Stating that balancing production costs is crucial to compete in international markets, Kayılı added that efforts to achieve export goals will continue.
