TEKNOFEST, the world's largest aerospace and technology festival organized under the main leadership of T3 Foundation and the Ministry of Industry and Technology of the Republic of Turkey, is preparing to host innovative projects this year through its competitions that promote young people's enthusiasm for manufacturing technology.
The FPV drone tracking competition organized as part of the festival invites young engineers and technology teams from the field of autonomous aircraft to demonstrate their skills in a realistic mission scenario.
The application deadline for teams wishing to apply for the competition is March 25th!
Autonomous tracking mission without GNSS
The main purpose of the FPV drone tracking competition is to ensure that the image-based perception, decision-making and dynamic target tracking capabilities of developed autonomous aircraft are evaluated in a realistic mission environment.
While the competition specifically promotes the development of technologies based on image processing and autonomous control algorithms, participants are expected to develop systems that enable successful tracking of a moving target without the use of the Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS).
In this context, competing teams will design systems that autonomously track a moving target drone by detecting it using only image-based detection methods. Thus, the competition will help participants acquire important skills such as advanced target tracking in unmanned aircraft, frame centering, lost target recognition and dynamic flight performance.
University students, graduates and teams from the private sector can take part.
The FPV Drone Tracking Competition brings together participants from different segments of the technology development ecosystem. Associate, bachelor's, master's and doctoral students, graduates and private sector teams studying in Turkey and abroad can apply for the competition as a team. Teams must consist of a minimum of 4 and a maximum of 10 people, including the advisor.
Thanks to this structure, participants from different disciplines have the opportunity to work together on powerful and innovative solutions.
At the end of the competition, the winning teams will also receive important prizes. The first team wins 300,000 TL, the second team 250,000 TL and the third team 200,000 TL.
In addition to financial rewards, participants also get the opportunity to present the projects they develop to a broad technology ecosystem and meet with experts in their fields.
The FPV Drone Surveillance Competition, which provides an important opportunity for young people who want to improve in the fields of autonomous systems, image processing technologies and unmanned aerial vehicles, is waiting for the projects of the new generation of engineers who will steer the skies.
Teams interested in technology and wanting to develop autonomous systems of the future must complete their applications by March 25th.
