Transport and Infrastructure Minister Abdulkadir Uraloğlu made a written statement on the number of people applying for UAV and pilot licenses in Turkey.
Uraloğlu pointed out that there has been an increase in applications in the field of civil aviation thanks to the training and studies carried out by the General Directorate of Civil Aviation (SHGM) in recent years: “Since the beginning of 2026, 54,000 75 people have applied to become UAV pilots. Compared to the first three months of last year, the number of people who want to become UAV pilots has increased by 236 percent increased.” gave his assessment.

Uraloğlu explained that the DGCA created a special registration system for these vehicles within the framework of the “UAV Systems Instruction”. Stating that in this way the permits, flights and registration of these vehicles would be greatly facilitated, Uraloğlu said:
“The use of UAVs in various sectors such as agricultural pesticides, photography, cinema, mapping, transport, security, shipping and health has increased significantly. We have registered 1091 new UAVs since the beginning of the year. The number of UAVs registered and used in the UAV registration system is 77,000 616 as of March 17.
