Büyüktech, a deep technology company that has grown in both the domestic and global markets through cooperation with many automobile companies, especially Togg, Ford Otosan and TOFAŞ, together with TOFAŞ R&D Center, has developed new generation driving assistance technologies designed according to the road conditions in Türkiye within the framework of the MOVE program, which is carried out with the support of the Ministry of Industry and Technology and TÜBİTAK.
Artificial intelligence-based advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), which detect the unseen when driving at night, detect driver fatigue and instantly recognize the road course, provide intelligent solutions that increase safety and reduce driver stress in various driving scenarios.
As part of this study, all systems, from camera hardware to software, were developed together from start to finish. Critical safety features such as traffic sign recognition, lane departure warning, automatic emergency braking, driver drowsiness warning, automatic high beam control and intelligent cruise control have been tested extensively in tests on race tracks, on traffic-calmed roads and in advanced simulation environments and have been brought to a level where they can function in real vehicles.
Technology that monitors driving and detects risks
ADAS constantly monitors the driving environment, detects risks at an early stage and creates an integrated safety structure. Lane Keeping Assist prevents unintentional lane changes by detecting lane lines, and Automatic Emergency Braking detects possible collision risks and is activated when the driver cannot intervene to prevent accidents or reduce their impact.
The automatic high beam control automatically controls the headlights when driving at night according to the lighting conditions in the area. The driver fatigue warning analyzes changes in driving behavior and warns the driver at an early stage. Traffic signs recognized by the traffic sign recognition system work together with the intelligent speed assistance function, thereby contributing to the safe and legally compliant management of speed limits. All information is transmitted to the instrument panel without distracting the driver's attention.
“We turn the vehicle into a smart companion”
In his assessment of the project, Ömer Orkun Düztaş, Founding Partner and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Harikatech, said that in the project they carried out together with TOFAŞ Research and Development Center under the MOVE Program of the Ministry of Industry and Technology, they have developed a camera-based driver assistance system that will make roads safer and directly contribute to reducing traffic accidents.
Emphasizing that within the scope of the project, they aim to develop systems that work in practice, have been tested many times in real driving conditions and are activated when the driver needs it, Düztaş said:
“These emerging solutions clearly demonstrate how ready domestic engineering and technology are now for mass production. The artificial intelligence-based systems we have developed improve visibility during night driving, detect driver fatigue, and support the driver through instant analysis of the road. Our goal is to transform the vehicle from a mere means of transportation into an intelligent companion that can constantly monitor, support, and anticipate risks to the driver.”
“We believe that these solutions developed in Türkiye can compete strongly both in the local market and on a global level.”
