Finance and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek evaluated the “sectoral inflation expectations” data for February released by the Central Bank in his post on his NSosyal account.
Explaining that “Despite inflation in January, which was above the market forecast, 12-month inflation expectations in February fell by 0.9 points in the real sector and by 0.1 points in market participants compared to the previous month,” Şimşek explained that a more comprehensive survey for household expectations has begun.
Pointing out that the 12-month inflation expectation, which was 52.1 percent in the old series for January, fell to 48.8 percent and remained unchanged in February, Şimşek said, “We continue to support the disinflation process with supply-side steps while maintaining our policies that limit the reflection of temporary factors on price behavior.”
