A teacher accused of sexually abusing 89 children in different countries was arrested in France

According to reports in the national press, Jacques Leveugle, who lives in the French province of Isère, has been accused of sexually abusing 89 children between the ages of 13 and 17 between 1967 and 2022 in almost ten countries where he worked as an educator, including France.

Announcing the arrest of the 79-year-old suspect, the Grenoble public prosecutor's office called on people who have information about the educator or were affected by his crimes to come forward as eyewitnesses.

The prosecutor's office announced that the investigation against the suspect began in 2023 after a relative handed over to law enforcement a USB drive containing the suspect's sensitive contents.

The prosecution explained that the memory contains records of the sexual abuse of 89 children of different ages by the suspect in almost ten countries and that identification is difficult because these records do not use the children's real names and that so far only 40 of the children recorded have been identified.

While the majority of children abused by the suspect live in France, the victims also include children from Morocco, Niger, Germany, Algeria, India and Colombia.
