The statement published on the Foreign Ministry website emphasized the Bolivarian government's commitment to peace diplomacy.
The statement said that the Venezuelan government had reopened dialogue channels with the US to restore diplomatic relations in both countries.
The statement noted that many patriots lost their lives as a result of the U.S. military intervention, which clearly violated international law, and noted the following:
“Venezuela will fight this attack through diplomatic means. Because we believe that Bolivarian peace diplomacy is the legitimate way to defend sovereignty, restore international law and maintain peace. This process aims to address the consequences of the attack and kidnapping of the President and his wife and to evaluate a work agenda on areas of mutual interest.”
The statement said that a diplomatic delegation affiliated with the US State Department had reached Venezuela to conduct technical and logistical assessments and that a diplomatic delegation from Venezuela would also be sent to the US to carry out its duties.
The U.S. Embassy in Caracas, in the Baruta district of the capital Caracas, has been closed since diplomatic relations between the two countries were suspended in 2019.
It was announced that a delegation from the US State Department visited the capital Caracas to examine the possibility of reopening the embassy in Venezuela, which was closed in 2019.
