According to the official Iranian news agency IRNA, Pezeshkian spoke at the symposium about the place of Islamic councils and public participation in the constitution.
Stating that it is wrong to believe that the government can eliminate all problems, Pezeşkiyan said: “Let us evaluate ourselves first. We must strive to prevent injustice, rent, bribery and smuggling. However, we must accept that these problems cannot be solved overnight. We are ready, but these facts also need to be seen.” he said.
Pezeşkiyan said that he believes that all problems can be solved with the help of the people, but this belief does not mean that the government is perfect, saying:
“We should not get the idea that the government can solve all problems. The government essentially does not have such a capacity. Even if it wanted to do this, it would have to print money, which would put pressure on the lower income groups of society. The country's income is secure and our resources are not unlimited.”
“We recognize our own shortcomings and are willing to consult experts.”
Pezeşkiyan said:
“We have brought the country to this point together. Both me, you and Parliament. Just saying you have to do this doesn't solve the problem.
Pezeşkiyan emphasized that they should first know themselves and recognize their capabilities, saying: “We must correctly assess the threats around us. Then we must decide where we are and where we want to go.”
Pezeşkian also evaluated US President Donald Trump's statement on the protests in Iran.
Pezeshkiyan said that the US is hindering Iran's development with sanctions, adding: “On the one hand, with sanctions they are blocking the country's development paths, on the other hand, they are showing sensitivity to our people. These people who are involved in massacres and various crimes claim to be defenders of human rights today.” he said.
The protests that began on December 28, 2025 by traders at Tehran's Grand Bazaar in Iran due to the sharp devaluation of the local currency due to exchange rates and economic problems spread to many cities in the country.
US President Trump said in his post on his social media account about the protests in Iran: “If Iran shoots and kills peaceful protesters, as it always does, the United States will come to their aid.” He used the following expressions:
