International R&D projects on sustainability in nutrition are supported

According to TÜBİTAK, FutureFoodS aims to transform Europe's food production and consumption processes into more sustainable and resilient systems. The partnership brings together leading experts, research institutions, companies and decision-makers to develop shared solutions to complex challenges facing food systems such as climate change, biodiversity loss and food security.

The aim is to minimize the ecological footprint of food production, improve consumer health and ensure the economic sustainability of the food chain.

The 2025 international partner call launched by the FutureFoodS Partnership aims to develop more sustainable, longer lasting and healthier food systems.

TÜBİTAK and TAGEM also focused on projects

In this context, 38 funding agencies from 20 countries and the European Commission, including TÜBİTAK and TAGEM from Türkiye, will support innovative R&D projects aimed at creating a sustainable food future.

The call will provide financial support for systematic household-level studies on food safety, cultures, nutritional needs and consumer behavior in the context of “domestic food practices to improve sustainable and healthy diets”.

Projects are expected to include improved processing/packaging, value addition of by-products and streams, projects for components adapted to different consumer groups, assessment of methodologies, criteria, indicators and quality signals, and work towards a more holistic framework created with system actors.

The application deadline is February 11, 2026

Project applications are accepted in 2 stages. Project proposals that pass the first stage will be invited to the second stage.

In the first-stage application process, in addition to the international application, the Turkish institutions/organizations involved in the project must also submit the national first-stage application with an electronic signature via the project application system to TÜBİTAK by the specified date. The funding decisions for the projects are expected to be made at the end of 2026.
