The Take Off Istanbul 2025 Entrepreneur Summit ended after the events on the second day.
Selçuk Bayraktar, who took part in the panel discussion “Entrepreneurship is Resistance” organized at the event, said that Baykar is the world's largest unmanned aerial vehicle company.
Stressing that they earn 90 percent of their income from exports, Bayraktar said: “We have aircraft in 37 countries. 60 percent of the global export market belongs to Baykar. We are a huge family of 8,000 people who work with cutting-edge technology and high added value.” he said.
Recalling that KIZILELMA recently conducted an epochal flight in world air combat, Bayraktar said: “For the first time in the history of world aviation, an unmanned combat aircraft hit an out-of-sight target in the air by detecting it with its own radar. In a way, it opened the doors of a new aviation history. We did this with our own aircraft, our own radar and our own rocket. We revolutionized world air combat.” gave his assessment.
“We are trying to build a global positioning system”
Regarding Fergani's work on space initiatives, Bayraktar continued his words as follows:
“We currently have a passionate engineering team of 130 people. In a sense, they are trying to push the window in our sky a little further. We are trying to build a global positioning system. We have launched our newest orbital transfer vehicle, which is very important to our independence.” “This is critical because you can confuse or deceive global positioning systems. Imagine traveling somewhere in your car and it could show you a completely different place. This is also a very critical thing for the defense industry.”
The work for Ulugh Beg continues
Pointing out that there are positioning systems in various countries in the world, Selçuk Bayraktar said: “We launched our initiative called Fergani to build these systems with our own resources, in a sense with the resources we obtained from high-tech exports. To rule the land, you have to be in the seas, to rule the seas you have to be in the skies, and to rule them all you have to be in space. They all can only “The name of our global positioning system will be Uluğ Bey.” he said.
Explaining that they launched experimental satellites in this context, Bayraktar said: “Türkiye now also has a space station. Normally it has to be by the sea. In Somalia, Türkiye has an area of 30 by 30 kilometers. If you have a coast by the sea, you can only put launchers into operation, which means you have a spaceport. There are 12 such places in the world. There will be a space station in Somalia because it is our heart geography “The construction has begun.” The state will also use it. Hopefully we will have the opportunity to use it there.
“If we want to have computing power, the way to get there is nuclear energy.”
Selçuk Bayraktar pointed out that energy independence is important in the new era and said: “When the transactions per second are discussed in artificial intelligence, the question arises 'How much energy do you have?' The question comes to the fore. With this in mind, we have launched an initiative. If we want to have computing power, we can achieve this through nuclear energy. We are holding a competition at TEKNOFEST. We received numerous applications. Our goal is to create the workforce to develop this technology. “More than 100 of our brothers applied to the latest competition to develop a reactor.” he said.
When asked where TEKNOFEST will be held in the new year, Bayraktar revealed that the event will be held in Şanlıurfa from September 30 to October 4.
