The application process for the project, which is being carried out under the coordination of the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change and involves the construction of 500,000 social housing units in 81 provinces, has been completed.
To date, 5.5 million applications have been submitted for the project, which aims to provide citizens with access to earthquake-proof and safe homes at affordable payment terms.
The application process ends on December 18th via e-government and on December 19th via banks.
Various square meter options and special quotas
The apartments offered for sale within the project are planned in different sizes according to the needs of citizens. In this regard, there are apartment options with 55 square meters 1+1, 65 square meters 2+1 and 80 square meters 2+1.
As part of the welfare state approach, special quotas were allocated for various groups. Accordingly, residential houses; 20 percent goes to pensioners, 20 percent to young people aged 18 to 30 and 10 percent to families with three or more children. In addition, a 5 percent quota has been set for disabled citizens, relatives of martyrs and veterans.
The era of “social housing for rent” in Istanbul
People who meet the established criteria can benefit from the “Social Rental Housing Project” to be implemented in Istanbul, with the beneficiaries being determined by lottery.
The first draws will take place on December 29th
Once the application process has been completed, the beneficiaries will be determined based on the drawing plan. While the first draws are expected to take place on December 29th, the drawing process is expected to continue until February 2026.
The aim is to hand over the first houses to the rightful owners in March 2027.
