The handover ceremony of the domestic HealthView ADR-100M mobile digital X-ray machine developed by ASELSAN was held at the ASELSAN Gölbaşı Technology Base Training and Event Center.
Speaking at the ceremony, Ahmet Akyol stated that they are pleased with the delivery of the mobile digital X-ray machines developed and manufactured by ASELSAN.
Recalling that President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan called ASELSAN “the heart of the defense industry”, Akyol recalled that the company has recently achieved key achievements such as the successful launch tests of the unmanned combat aircraft KIZILELMA, the launch of the LUNA-1 satellite and the joint operation of the kamikaze sea vehicle ALBATROS.
Akyol said: “Following successes in the air, space and sea, we are now delivering our mobile X-ray machine to our Ministry of Health. In this ceremony, we will witness the transfer of half a century of technology accumulation to our country's healthcare infrastructure.” he said.
Stating that they have focused one of the six sector directorates on civilian activities under ASELSAN's strategy to transfer their success in defense to civilian sectors, Akyol continued in his speech as follows:
“Today, ASELSAN's signature can be found on the cameras of facial recognition collars of our police forces, subway and railway signaling systems, traction systems of national electric trains and sensors of natural gas pipelines. In addition, the Gendarmerie Communication Information System (JEMUS) was also developed by ASELSAN, which enables uninterrupted communication during the February 6 earthquakes. We are proud to see X-ray machines signed by ASELSAN in our hospitals, bringing healing to our country.”
“Joint success of doctors and engineers”
Akyol emphasized that engineering is a profession that should be practiced on site and not at a desk, explaining that they work closely with medical professionals and soldiers during the development process of the products.
Stating that doctors, engineers and universities played an active role in the design and verification processes of the mobile X-ray machine, Akyol said: “Our machine was developed with the combination of the knowledge of our healthcare community and the technical capabilities of ASELSAN. It has the qualities to compete globally with its features such as high-resolution digital images, low radiation levels and behind-the-wall imaging.” he said.
“11 new medical devices by 2030”
Akmet Akyol stated that in addition to the 30 machines delivered, 300 more mobile X-ray machines will be delivered to hospitals within two years.
Regarding the importance of ventilators produced during the pandemic, Akyol shared the following information:
“We have managed to export half of our more than 27,000 ventilators and automatic external defibrillators (AEDs) to date to 26 countries. Next year, we will begin mass production of cardiopulmonary devices and manual defibrillators, which are manufactured by only five companies in the world. Our goal is to bring 11 new medical devices locally to our country by 2030.”
“The goal of complete independence in the health sector”
Akyol emphasized that Türkiye's new path is complete independence in the health sector in line with the National Technology Move and concluded his speech with the following words:
“As ASELSAN, we are ready to put not only our hands but also our bodies in the field of healthcare. We are sure that when the vision of our state and the leadership of our Ministry of Health meet with the engineering of ASELSAN, we will achieve many successes in this strategic area. We believe that this ceremony is a valuable step towards the goal of total independence in healthcare.”
HealthView ADR-M100 mobile digital x-ray machine
HealthView ADR-M100, which was delivered under the contract signed between ASELSAN and International Health Services Inc. (USHAŞ), entered mass production in 2024.
The device, whose design requirements and usage concept were determined together with radiologists and technicians, is the result of a 5-year development process. The 2,100-component device, with all design expertise owned by ASELSAN, offers superior high-resolution digital imaging capabilities compared to its competitors.
In collaboration with the Presidency of the Turkish Health Institutes (TÜSEB), there are plans to integrate local artificial intelligence-based decision support software into the device in the short term. The aim of this measure is to contribute to the diagnostic processes of emergency services personnel. In addition, it is planned that the high-voltage generator and image processing algorithms used in the device will be fully used in domestic production in the coming years.
Ventilators, AED, manual external defibrillator and heart-lung machine developed by ASELSAN with its own funds were also exhibited at the ceremony. These devices, which have the EC certificate compatible with the European Union, have the right to free circulation. The ASELSAN family of healthcare products, supported by cloud-based software, has been awarded a total of 20 patent applications, 8 utility model certificates and 5 international design awards to date.
