Transport and Infrastructure Minister Uraloğlu announced in his written statement that the 5G technology tender will be held tomorrow at 10.30 a.m. at the Information Technology and Communications Authority (BTK) Central Building.
Uraloğlu pointed out that operators can submit their bids for the tender until 9:30 a.m. tomorrow and stated that companies will start offering 5G services from April 1, 2026.
Companies compete for most spectrum bands
Uraloğlu also evaluated the frequency bands within the framework of the tender and provided the following information:
“11 different spectrum packages will be allocated to operators, with the tender having a minimum value of 2 billion 125 million dollars for a total frequency of 400 MHz in the 700 MHz and 3.5 GHz frequency bands. Our operators will participate in the tender separately and compete for the most suitable and highest frequency bands according to their own strategies.”
“Mobile Internet speed will increase in the new era”
Uraloğlu explained that 5G technology will change not only daily life but also the way of doing business, with much lower latency and much higher connection capacities:
“We have carried out intensive technical studies with our operators who are successfully continuing 2G, 3G and 4.5G services. With the new era, an increase of up to ten times in mobile Internet speeds will be experienced compared to 4.5G. From this perspective, 5G technology, with its very low latency mobile communications and intensive machine-like communication capabilities, will lead to significant changes in business processes in many sectors. The opportunities presented by 5G will be fully realized in areas such as: autonomous driving, remote surgery and smart used.” Agriculture and smart factories: “Locality and nationality were promoted.” There is a commitment to use up to 60 percent domestic products and 30 percent national communication products. In this way, we will both reduce dependence on foreign countries in technology and promote domestic production.”
