In his statement on his social media account, Minister Bayraktar stated that efforts to expand Türkiye's natural gas infrastructure would continue.
Bayraktar recalled President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's goal: “There will no longer be a settlement without access to natural gas,” and emphasized that they are continuing their work in this direction.
Bayraktar noted that natural gas, which was only available in 5 provinces in 2002, was now delivered to all 81 provinces, 950 settlements and 22 million subscribers, and that natural gas was delivered to 51 new settlements last year and the number of residential customers across Türkiye increased by about 1 million.
The information in the graphic used by Minister Bayraktar in his post on natural gas access illustrates the transformation of Türkiye's natural gas infrastructure over the last 23 years and the country's energy vision.
According to this, natural gas, which was used only in 5 provinces and 57 settlements in 2002, reached all 81 provinces and 950 settlements by 2025. During this period, the population with access to natural gas increased from 16.5 million to 73 million.
While in 2002 16.5 million people, or only 24 percent of the population, benefited from natural gas, by 2025 there will be 73 million, which corresponds to 85 percent of the population.
This major change was also reflected in the number of subscribers. The number of natural gas subscribers, which was 1.3 million in 2002, reached 22 million in 2025, an increase of 17 times. This increase is an indicator of investments in Türkiye's energy infrastructure and the goal of improving the quality of life of its citizens.
