“With 5G, our communication speed will increase tenfold”

Speaking at the Global Journalists Council 5th Global Media Meeting program held at a hotel in Alanya District of Antalya, Uraloğlu said that an impartial and free press, which has adopted the principle of providing accurate and complete information to the public, is one of the most important powers of democratic states.

Uraloğlu stated that as a ministry they are taking decisive steps towards Türkiye's goal of becoming a global logistics superpower with investments, emphasizing that they have invested around $300 billion in the transportation sector since 2002 under the leadership of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

Stating that they increased the length of the divided road from 6,101 kilometers to 29,947 kilometers today and increased the highway network from 1,714 kilometers to 3,796 kilometers, Uraloğlu said, “I would like to especially inform that there is only one breath, one step away from the huge threshold of 30,000 kilometers in our divided road length. We are excited and proud to present to you, the valuable press representatives raise your voice to proclaim this good news firsthand truth.” he said.

“We will be able to travel all over Türkiye by high-speed train in 48 hours”

Minister Uraloğlu stated that they made Türkiye one of the countries where high-speed trains operate by building a high-speed rail network of 2,251 kilometers and said that they continued the construction work of very important high-speed train line projects such as Halkalı-Kapıkule, Ankara-İzmir, Bandırma-Bursa-Yenişehir-Osmaneli and Mersin-Adana-Osmaniye-Gaziantep continue.

Stating that the high-speed train project that will run from Istanbul to Antalya via Afyonkarahisar has been completed, Uraloğlu shared the following information:

“Hopefully, in the coming period, we want to include it in the investment program and introduce high-speed trains to the Mediterranean. When these routes are completed, we will reach 27 cities directly with our high-speed trains in 2028. In addition, projects such as the Ankara-Istanbul super-speed train line and the Northern Marmara high-speed train line, whose financing studies are still ongoing, are on our immediate agenda. By 2053, we will 28,000 have 590 kilometers of railway network in Türkiye. If we do what we say, we will cover all of Türkiye.” “We will be able to travel by high-speed train in 48 hours. That is our future plan.”

Uraloğlu, who announced that the number of logistics centers is planned to increase from 12 to 25, said that the construction work of Rize İyidere and Sivas logistics centers is currently continuing.

Uraloğlu explained that with the development road project, which is of particular importance to European countries, uninterrupted transportation to every country in Europe by road and rail will be ensured from Faw Port in Basra, Iraq to London.

“We will increase the number of airports in our country to 60”

Uraloğlu explained that Türkiye is located at the intersection of Asia, Europe and Africa and that 67 countries, home to 1.5 billion people, can be reached with a 4-hour flight.

Stating that the number of airports will increase to 60 after the completion of the two airports under construction, Uraloğlu stated that they are planning an air campus in West Antalya.

Regarding the work in the communications sector, Uraloğlu said that with TÜRKSAT 6A, which was produced at a local production rate of over 80 percent, Türkiye became one of the eleven countries producing its own satellites.

Stating that after TÜRKSAT 6A, they have now started working on TÜRKSAT 7A, Uraloğlu continued as follows:

“Hopefully we will produce it and send it into space. As you know, on October 16, we held the 5G tender, bringing our treasury an income of 3 billion 534 million dollars including VAT. Hopefully, on April 1, 2026, we will start providing 5G services with 8K image quality, and our reporters will be able to transmit high-quality images and data from the crime scene within seconds. “These developments will improve the processes of news gathering, “Radically facilitate verification and dissemination for our media representatives and bring real-time journalism to the forefront.”

Minister Uraloğlu said that they will complete the Antalya-Alanya Highway in a short time and start work on two intersections that will contribute to the city.

After the speeches, Global Journalists Council Chairman Mehmet Ali Dim presented the İsmail Gaspiralı Service Award to Minister Uraloğlu.

Subsequently, the İsmail Gaspiralı Honor Awards and the 5th Global Achievement Awards, which were presented for the first time this year, were awarded to their rightful owners.

The program was attended by AK Party Deputy Chairman Hüseyin Yayman, Turkish NATO-PA Delegation Chairman of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey and AK Party Antalya Deputy Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, Antalya Governor Hulusi Şahin, AK Party Antalya Deputy Mustafa Köse, Kemal Çelik and media representatives from home and abroad.
