According to the compilation from the President's Annual Program for 2026, the aim is to maximize Türkiye's potential as a regional transportation and logistics base by developing intermodal and multimodal transportation practices, establishing a safe, accessible, holistic, environmentally friendly and cost-effective transportation system, and creating infrastructure that supports competitive production and exports.
As part of this goal, studies are being carried out as part of the “Establishment of Safety and Security Information Infrastructure Systems Project”. University collaborations to produce sustainable aviation fuels will be strengthened and a roadmap for research and development as well as the production of these fuels will be established.
SAF production and consumption are monitored under the Sustainable Aviation Fuel Directive (SHT-SAF).
A technical study will be conducted to promote more effective use of airports and the results will be reported.
Cooperation with airlines and relevant public institutions will continue to increase the number of domestic flights and destinations. Studies will continue to domestically produce and utilize digital applications and systems used in the aviation industry.
Funding and delivery needs are identified using a holistic approach to ensure coordination in joint projects. The implementation of the transport and logistics master plan is reported annually. Legislative studies are being carried out in the area of intelligent transport.
A timetable will be drawn up for the efficient use of the existing cargo capacity at Istanbul Airport. In order to increase the number of airlines' flights, closer cooperation with civil aviation authorities of other countries will be established and existing agreements and memorandums of understanding will be updated.
Work on the railway continues
“Establishment of OTMI (Domestic Automatic Train Inspection Station) Project” will be completed.
The ongoing high-speed train projects will continue according to the expected work plans by ensuring coordination among investor organizations.
The project “Strengthening Intermodal Transport Services in the Turkish Railway Sector” will be completed.
The construction of the connecting lines of Çukurova Region, İskenderun Bay, Filyos Port and Filyos Industrial Zone will continue according to the work plan.
The environmental impact assessment and final project studies of the port, which will be the gateway to the Middle East and Central Asian countries in the Eastern Mediterranean, will be built with a focus on transit cargo, contributing to the development of the region and increasing exports.
1,700 kilometers of automatic guardrails will be installed to ensure traffic safety
15,000 kilometers of road inventory information will be updated to develop asset management systems and carry out maintenance management based on the concept of preventive maintenance, thereby reducing vehicle operating costs and high maintenance costs in the road network. Extensive superstructure repairs are being completed on 271 kilometers of highway.
A total of 500 kilometers of communication infrastructure will be built on state and provincial roads and an intelligent transportation system center will be established.
New modules are being developed for the traffic safety analysis system. Mobile traffic training vehicles are used to train 30,000 students to raise awareness of traffic safety. 1,700 kilometers of crash barriers and 550 kilometers of rumble strips will be built.
The passenger target that the airline is expected to carry in 2026 is 255.9 million
While Türkiye continues to invest in all modes of transport, it aims to increase capacity in rail, air and road transport. In this regard, it is planned to increase the length of the high-speed line to 2,251 kilometers by the end of this year and to 2,769 kilometers next year. In order to achieve these goals, the plan is to increase the share of rail in passenger transport. The share of rail in terrestrial passenger transport is expected to be 5.77 percent this year and 5.93 percent in 2026.
Work on the airline continues and the number of passengers carried increases. While 244.8 million passengers are expected to be transported by air this year, this number is expected to reach 255.9 million next year.
Work continues continuously to ensure passengers can travel comfortably and safely on the road. The shared road network in this area is expected to reach 30,420 kilometers by the end of the year and 30,420 kilometers in 2026.
