Trump answered questions from Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and members of the press in Egypt, where he attended the Sharm el-Sheikh peace summit marking the ceasefire agreement that took effect in Gaza.
A reporter asked: “When will the second phase of talks begin?” When asked, Trump said: “It's begun. I mean, it's begun from our perspective. You know, the stages seem a little mixed up. The cleanup has to start. Look at Gaza, there's a lot of cleanup to do.” he said.
Stressing that “rubble needs to be cleared” in Gaza, Trump said: “Look at Gaza, there is a lot of (debris) that needs to be cleared. That's why I talked about rubble in my speech and used the word rubble.” he said.
Trump explained that “some of the richest countries in the world” had gathered in Egypt, explaining that everyone who was invited came and that it was out of respect for the job.
Trump said he could lift sanctions on Iran if he agreed to meet with the US, adding: “They can't survive with these sanctions. The sanctions are pretty heavy. At some point they're going to want the sanctions lifted.” he said.
