The Turkish states will launch their joint cube satellite in 2026

Following the decisions of the Council of Heads of State of the Organization of Turkish States (TDT) at the summit in Gabala, Azerbaijan, all eyes turned to implementation.

Countries will take action on many issues related to the economy, from trade to transportation, from space to energy.

One of these will be projects in the space sector. As part of the discussions, it was decided to accelerate the production process for the launch of the “12U TDT-SAT Cube Satellite” in 2026, which represents an important achievement under the TDT flag thanks to the joint expertise and technological capabilities of the member states.

On the other hand, Turkish Space Days and related events were planned to be organized under the TDT flag to promote visibility and collaboration in space sciences within the framework of Space Week, International Astronautical Congress and other global platforms.

The use of joint research and innovation has been implemented by facilitating joint scientific initiatives, supporting new ventures, promoting entrepreneurial ecosystems and improving knowledge exchange between academic and technological institutions in the Turkish region.

Another decision-making topic was cooperation in the area of ​​artificial intelligence. The aim is to increase productivity, sustainability and regional competition through coordinated innovation and capacity building efforts. In this context, the integration of artificial intelligence, green and digital technologies and intelligent production systems into Member States' industrial strategies will be promoted.

Tourism activities are being developed

In addition, efforts to facilitate trade, customs and transportation cooperation, ensure freedom of transit and strengthen cooperation between border institutions will be intensified.

Priority will be given to appropriate transport regulations and modernized logistics systems to increase efficiency, resilience and global competitiveness between Member States and to improve regional connectivity and transport infrastructure.

The expansion of tourism exchanges, the development of cultural tourism programs and the implementation of joint awareness-raising initiatives are encouraged.

Member States will carry out joint promotional activities in international markets through coordinated activities. Countries will strengthen intra-regional tourism by supporting mutual initiatives, promoting bilateral cooperation and developing joint campaigns, exhibitions and cultural programs that expand visitor flows and build sustainable partnerships.

Preparations for the Common Museum Card are also being completed to improve access to cultural heritage sites, promote mutual understanding and strengthen the common identity of the Turkish peoples.

Energy security and transformation

The research will be expanded to include the green economy, renewable energy sources and their efficient and safe transport in the region and beyond.

Sustainable development and environmental management will be implemented in line with the Turkish Green Vision through green technologies, climate-resilient infrastructure and responsible resource management.

Innovation-oriented agriculture is promoted, trade and investment in products are facilitated and agricultural cooperation is deepened.

As part of the “Turkish Green Vision”, renewable energies and clean technologies are being expanded, climate-resilient infrastructure is being built, energy efficiency is being increased, the zero-waste approach is being promoted, regional cooperation is being strengthened to protect and preserve natural resources and biodiversity.

The implementation of selected projects within the framework of the TDT Drought Prevention Institute based in Hungary is ensured.

Potential cooperation opportunities on critical minerals are being explored for the goals of energy security and energy transition.

As part of the TDT's newly established “Civil Protection Mechanism”, we will also respond jointly to natural disasters.
