Developed with the technical support of Türksat Aş under the coordination of the Ministry for the Environment, Urbanism and Climate Change, the Turkish National Geographical Information System, which was developed with technical support for Türksat Aş, was fully integrated into the e-government goal. The new system enables to be used and managed by a central digital infrastructure of geographical data and offers strategic data solution for public institutions.
Common geographical infrastructure for the public, complete compliance with the digital state
The Türkiye National Geographical Information System platform has become accessible via the e-government gate and has closed an important gap in the geographical data management of Türkiye in digital public services. In this context, 630 geographical layers on a single platform with newly defined data dictionary and content standards were merged, while interstitutional data conformity and transparency were increased to the highest level.
The geographical data of public institutions and local governments can now certainly be shared and authorized. Therefore, zoning planning for disaster management, transport planning for environmental analyzes and many public services based on data based on data are provided.
Integrated service with a single platform
The Turkish platform for geographical information systems, which is opened for use, not only offers the standardization and resource efficiency in data-based public services via e-government gate, but also prevents repeated data production.
With the national geographical information system from Türkiye, the costs for the production of geographical data are reduced and digital harmony and the integrated service structure between public institutions are strengthened.
