Zeynep Nehir çamlıca, Dilşah İmran Avcı and Bedirhan Bingöl and their teachers pass Birsen who studied in the Muş Science and Art Center (Bnowlsem), and prepared the “Propolis Antibacterials Effect Project” in 2022 to invest the effects of micro engravity.
The project, which was exhibited in the Turkish final in the Tubsye Secondary School Research Projects projects, was later carried out for the 13 experiments of GEZERAVCı during his space trip from January 19 to February 9, 2024.
In the experiment, Propolis showed a stronger effect on gram -negative bacteria than antibiotics. The reports of the project, which was completed in February this year, were presented to the Turkish space agency.
The effect of propolis on bacteria in space is examined
Birsen Geçer, coordinator technology teacher of Project Coordinator, said they are proud of the project's experiment, which they prepared with their students.
Geçer said it was a very important project for students, said Geçer:
“Propolis is a connection that the workers' bees are mixed with the secretion glands in their heads and the enzymes from the heads of the body, leaves and buds secrete plants. Propolis has been revealed as the result of previous scientific research. In fact, our aim was to determine the bacteria in the space of the micrograclimate space.
Detailed results are announced by Tubitak
After the project was accepted, Astronaut Alper Gezeravcı recalled that the experiment was carried out at the international space station and gave the following information:
“We had control and test groups in our experimental mechanism. At the same time, we used antibiotics as a control group. With this study we found that propolis has shown similar results in the world. The result is scientifically announced by Tubitak.
“The scientific thinking of the students develops”
One of his goals is to uncover the bacterial profile in the international space station and to explain that the astronauts in the station can have a number of health problems in view of a number of health problems, since they know that the treatment methods for the bacteria will find more easily, he said.
In the emphasis that the project will also contribute to the medical field, Geçer said:
“There are bacteria that carry out diseases, and because we do not recognize these bacteria, it will be easier to present the form of treatment for you. It is proud for us that the project was realized in space. I was.”
