As part of the technological well -being among young people (Techwell), which was supported by the European Union (EU) under the supervision of the ITU, scientists from Turkey, France and Italy began to work on the fight against technology dependency in young people.
In this context, around 1,000 students, 400 teachers and 400 parents were carried out in Torkiye, Italy and France.
As a result, 91 percent of adolescents used technology without the control of the parents, and those that started with smartphones before the age of 10 have two more risks than those that started after the age of 13.
ITU Business Engineering Department Assoc. Dr. Adnan Veysel Ertemel said that the basics of this study were based on the book “Illusional Marketing in the Digital Age”, which was published about 10 years ago.
Ertemel said that the digital platforms are not as neutral as it is assumed and said that the time of the user with methods such as the Hook technology remains deliberately on the screen.
Assoc. Dr. Ertemel In 2019-2020 with the training organized for approximately 2,000 students, young people explained the opportunities to use technology consciously, practical and applicable methods, and the studies are supported by academic publication, he said.
Ertemel said that Ertemel said that ITU's “techwell” project, the governor of Türkiye, Padova University of Italy, the Padova University from Italy, was carried out, including 7 partners, including the UPEC university from France.
He found that they have achieved significant results in field research, said Ertemel: “The earlier the age of technology begins. The more problematic use of the phone increases. For example, those who use smartphones before the age of 10 have twice the risk of addiction.
Assoc. Dr. Ertemel, in the study of various types of digital dependence according to gender, are social media, female students and male students in digital play, also known as “fear of development developments (GKK)”, in girls who are stressed in girls more often.
Despite some legal agreements in France, the problem of digital dependence on a similar level was followed. This situation shows that the agreements are not enough, said Ertemel that the digital addiction also causes negative effects of the academic achievements of the students and that the smartphone addiction affects the course services of young people directly.
“Half of the telephone users control your phone every 30 minutes”
Assoc. Dr. Ertetemel in 2021 in the 6-15 age group, while the rate of digital technology of 82 percent, while 2024're 92 percent of the records, “almost half of the telephone users check the phone every 30 minutes.
Ertemel said that the project remains a time of 1 year and that the applications that begin with pilot training are developed according to feedback and that all spending and training materials of the project are delivered to more people from the Techwell website.
