Transport and Infrastructure Minister Abdulkadir Uraloğlu informed about the transition process of subscribers to 5G.
Pointing out that a historic threshold was crossed when President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan officially launched the 5G era yesterday, Uraloğlu said: “There are more than 32 million 5G-compatible devices in Turkey. With 5G, which we have gradually put into operation in 81 provinces, about 21 million subscribers have become acquainted with this technology.” gave his assessment.
Uraloğlu pointed out that communication and information technology are among the most strategically important areas today.
Stating that 5G is not just a technology, but the name of an era that will transform the economy, industry, health, transportation and agriculture in Türkiye, Uraloğlu continued as follows:
“5G will put Türkiye at the center of digital transformation with its ultra-low latency compared to 4.5G and intensive device connectivity capacity. Fully autonomous driving and smart road applications in transportation will increase road safety and manage traffic more efficiently. In industry, production processes will be optimized with smart factories, autonomous robots and instant data analysis. Innovative solutions will come to life in everything from energy management to parking systems in smart cities.”
5G services will be available across the country within two years
Uraloğlu reminded that through the 5G permit tender held on October 16, 2025, they achieved income of $3 billion, 534 million in competition with three operators.
Stating that in the 5G permit tender, operators are increasingly required to use domestic certified products with a share of up to 60 percent and national communication products with a share of up to 30 percent, Uraloğlu said, “We will provide 5G services to our citizens in every point of our country within two years.” he said.
