187 million passengers traveled by plane in the first 9 months of the year

Minister Uraloğlu made a statement on the airline's September aircraft, passenger and cargo data from the General Directorate of State Airports Authority.

Stating that the number of aircraft taking off and landing at passenger and environmentally friendly airports last month was 92,573 on domestic routes and 94,799 on international routes, Uraloğlu stated that the total aircraft traffic including flyovers reached 239,335.

Stating that domestic passenger traffic was 9 million 547 thousand 571 and international passenger traffic was 15 million 205 thousand 768 in September, Uraloğlu stated that a total of 24 million 769 thousand 907 passengers traveled with direct transit passengers and that passenger traffic including direct transit increased by 10.5 percent compared to the same month last year.

Uraloğlu also stated that 91,460 tons of cargo were transported on domestic lines and 406.58 tons on international lines in the month in question.

Stating that 746 thousand 659 aircraft landed and took off on domestic routes and 711 thousand 652 on international routes in the January-September period, Uraloğlu stated that a total of 1 million 888 thousand 370 aircraft operated with the flyovers.

187 million passengers were served

Stating that the total air traffic, including flyovers, increased by 7.6 percent in this period compared to the same period last year, Uraloğlu said: “In this period, in which domestic passenger traffic at airports in Turkey was 76 million 584 thousand 284 and international passenger traffic was 110 million 699 thousand 739, a total of 187 million 397 Thousand 678 passengers served, including direct transit.” Passengers 2025.” At the end of September, there was a 5.3 percent increase in total passenger traffic, including direct transit, compared to the same period in 2024. “This means that an average of 686,000 people traveled by plane per day in the 9 months of 2025.”

Istanbul Airport served 62 million passengers

Uraloğlu stated that Istanbul Airport's air traffic reached 48,502 in September, 11,428 on domestic routes and 37,74 on international routes, and 7 million,610,623 passengers were served, 1,647,670,670 on domestic routes and 5,962,953 on international routes. Uraloğlu pointed out that the air traffic that took off and landed at Sabiha Gökçen Airport in September was 24,669, of which 10,644 were on domestic routes and 14.25 were on international routes. Stating that the airport in question served 202,000 965 aircraft, 86,386 on domestic routes and 116,579 on international routes, Uraloğlu stated that 35 million 628,000 48 passengers were served, 15 million 802,000 790 on domestic routes and 19 million 825,000 258 on international routes.

Uraloğlu also noted that the air traffic at Istanbul Atatürk Airport was 2,389 in the relevant month and 21,835 in the 9-month period.

Tourism centers hosted 50 million passengers in 9 months

Uraloğlu stated that the number of passengers carried at airports in tourism centers reached 50 million 226 thousand 510 in 9 months, 14 million 944 thousand 71 on domestic routes and 35 million 282 thousand 439 on international routes:


“There were a total of 337 thousand 139 aircraft, of which 116 thousand 263 were on domestic routes and 220 thousand 876 were on international routes.
